Snowflake scoops data champ Samooha, 8th win in a row!

Snowflake, the cloud data warehouse leader, is set to acquire data clean room startup Samooha. The acquisition will provide Snowflake with a robust data clean room platform that enables secure sharing and collaboration on confidential information. This is a crucial capability as data becomes increasingly important in the age of artificial intelligence. Data clean rooms allow companies to share anonymized datasets without exposing sensitive details. Samooha specializes in providing industry-specific templates for building clean data rooms that run as native apps on Snowflake’s platform. Despite being a native Snowflake app, Samooha can also work with alternative data sources like Amazon Web Services’ cloud and invite collaborators from outside the Snowflake ecosystem.

The acquisition comes at a crucial time for Snowflake, as analysts predict rapid growth in the data clean room industry. Snowflake has made a total of nine acquisitions in 2023, expanding its capabilities and offerings.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but all 18 of Samooha’s employees, including co-founders Kamakshi Sivamakrishnan and Abhishek Bhowmick, will join Snowflake’s team.
