Possible startup in Peru by Feb 1; Mayor shares with Rotary.

Peru Mayor Ken Kolowski announced that the local GAF facility in north Peru could begin production on February 1. The facility is currently under construction and will manufacture industrial roofing in a 400,000 square foot structure. The Mayor stated that the plant currently employs 45 workers, with a target workforce of 75. Wages at the facility range from $30 to $45 per hour, and the Mayor believes that 95% of the workforce will be local.

One of the key factors in the construction of the GAF facility was the city’s contribution of building a two million dollar road to the site. The city was reimbursed for 75% of the road construction costs.

This news of the GAF facility’s potential startup on February 1 is significant for the city of Peru. Mayor Kolowski described it as “the biggest thing going on in the city.” The facility is expected to provide a boost to the local economy and create new job opportunities for residents.
