In a significant move towards supporting innovation within the semiconductor sector, NXP India has partnered with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad’s Fabless Chip Design Incubator (FabCI). They jointly announced the winners of the Semiconductor Startup Incubation and Acceleration Program Season 2. The top five winners of this initiative, aimed at supporting startups centered on semiconductor and Intellectual Property (IP) designs, include Smartkosh Technologies, Droame LLP, FermionIC Design, Smartway Electronics, and Pramatra Space Technology. Each of these winner startups received a cash reward of INR 1 lakh. Furthermore, startup Mokkomotto secured the Special Jury Award for its innovative product solution, gaining access to program benefits such as EDA tools, MPW access, Foundry/Packaging access, Characterization lab access, and demo day visibility with NXP.
This program targets the nurturing and guidance of Indian tech startups, with a special focus on startups working on semiconductor and Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) field. The initiative aligns with the technological advancement goals of the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and Make in India vision, thereby enhancing India’s capabilities within the technology sphere, specifically semiconductors and ESDM.
Commenting on the initiative, Hitesh Garg, the Managing Director of NXP India, stated the company’s commitment to supporting groundbreaking ideas within the technology sector, seeing India’s potential to become a global hub for innovation. Congratulating the winners, Prof B S Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, stated his belief in the program’s ability to foster India’s future tech leaders. He noted a significant growth in interest for the program, with this year’s applicants showing a 125% increase compared to previous years.
