The UVI Research and Technology Park (RTPark) has announced open applications for the 2024 cohort of Accelerate VI (AVI), a startup accelerator geared towards supporting the growth of the local tech ecosystem in the US Virgin Islands (USVI). The program is mainly aimed at local companies but startup companies that can benefit the territory in any way are also considered.

Key points include:

  • The program features a 12-week-long structured business curriculum with weekly guided trainings.
  • It provides aspiring entrepreneurs with coaching sessions from subject matter experts and networking opportunities with experienced business mentors.
  • The program is open to all technology-enabled companies, regardless of their industry. The deadline for applications is January 12th.
  • Since its establishment in 2019, the Accelerate VI program has sponsored 22 startups over four cohorts, helping these startups raise over $7 million in capital.

According to the RTPark’s Director of Entrepreneurship, Eric Sonnier, Accelerate VI is designed as a catalyst for innovation and advancement for tech entrepreneurs in the USVI. By focusing on scalability and fostering a diverse range of technology sectors, Accelerate VI plays a critical role in nurturing entrepreneurship within the region.

Holding a strong belief in the power of entrepreneurial ecosystems in creating resilient economies, the RTPark further commits to promoting the sustainable growth of early-stage firms in the USVI through business incubation and acceleration endeavors. It expects this strategic move to facilitate the generation of innovative ideas and sustainable solutions within the territory.
